Avon's Historical Collections
Located on the first floor of the Library, the Marian Hunter History Room is dedicated to Marian M. Hunter, long-time librarian and historian of Avon.  The collection was formed when the Library and the Avon Historical Society combined their archives and dedicated the room on February 4, 1989.  It includes photographs, postcards, scrapbooks, maps, deeds, and other pieces of memorabilia.  Researchers and interested residents may find information on the general history of the town, original old homes and buildings in Avon, and genealogies of original families. Anyone with old photographs of Avon may bring them to the Library. 

If appropriate for the collection, we would ask to borrow the photos to have copies made.

Composed of over 100 historic and contemporary photographs. Author Peter Wright, a board member of the Avon Historical Society, took the contemporary photographs while the historic views are from private collections and from the Marian Hunter History Room at the Avon Free Public Library.
