October Art Exhibit: Nature, Wildlife & Landscape Photography – AADARSH GOPALAKRISHNA

Artist Statement: As a child, photographs always mesmerized me in many ways and I always wondered how photographers were able to do such a wonderful job in bringing life into a still picture and tell a story with it. I grew up in India in a family of health care professionals and most of the people I knew growing up were in business but I always had interests in wildlife/nature photography. Once I moved to the US, I actually had a chance to pursue my interests in photography as an amateur photographer. I have been taking photographs of wildlife and nature as my main subjects along with architecture and landscape photography. My special interests are around birds. It is very interesting that I learn a lot about wildlife each day as I photograph them. Photographing wildlife has built my patience and my perception to nature drastically. Photography has given me the motivation to travel and to meet people with similar interests. I became a part of the Simsbury Camera Club, Simsbury, CT where I’ve learned a lot from mentors and peers in the club. I try to take my camera with me where ever I travel because you never know what you will run into. It is always nice to appreciate what we have around us and find a good way to freeze the moment when possible. Photography brings freedom to express myself. I am currently a faculty at UCONN School of Dental Medicine, Farmington, CT and I would like to think that I try to make every effort to balance work / life and make time for photography. I have a very supporting spouse, Pooja and daughter, Anika who have fueled my passion and respect it.
Artist Reception: Saturday, October 8th, 2:30pm – 4:45pm in our Gallery
