Who is the event for? This group is only for those entering Grades 4, 5 & 6 in Fall 2023.

This is based on the content and interest level of the books being read and not reading level.  The group is intended to allow peers in the same grades to discuss books together. There is a strong focus on peer interaction and opinion based discussion and sharing of ideas.

What is this book about?

In the city where Leon lives, superheroes and supervillains are a part of everyday life! Many kids and adults are born with super powers- but not Leon, unfortunately. So, how can an ordinary kid like Leon have their chance to shine like the superheroes in town? Leon has his outfit and accessories all put together, and practices for his chance to be the hero of his dreams. His best friend, Carlos and his super supportive, best Mom ever are by his side as he dreams of being a super. In school, the hall monitor- a young super named Clementine- teases Leon for wanting to be an ordinary hero, but Leon won’t let himself be discouraged.

When their classmates start to turn into mind-controlled zombies under the rule of a new emerging supervillain in the school, Leon along with Carlos and surprisingly, his frenemy Clementine must team up to become the heroes of the story! But, are there secrets to be discovered that will change everything?
