CTDA Annual Conference! (Virtual)

Friday June 17

Welcome to the 2022 CTDA Conference

This event is for members of the CTDA community: libraries, museums, and historians.

It will focus on being a “networking day” where we will come together and share ideas, conversations, and thoughts related to the CTDA.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER:

Dr. Kathy Hermes, CCSU, will present, “Forgotten Voices of the Revolutionary War: People of Color and the Redding Encampment, 1778-1779”

BIO:

Dr. Katherine A. Hermes received her A.B. in history from the University of California-Irvine, in 1985; a J.D. from Duke University School of Law in 1992; and her Ph.D. in Colonial American history from Yale in 1995. She has taught at Central Connecticut State University in the History Department since 1997 and served as Department Chair from 2012-2018 and in Spring, 2022. She taught courses on Anglo-American legal history, Native Americans of the Eastern Woodlands, and the American Revolution, as well as other courses in Early American History. She is the co-author with Alexandra Maravel of several articles and book chapters on Native American history in New England and the author of book chapters on Native legal history. She is the director of the “Uncovering Their History” project for the Ancient Burying Ground Association of Hartford (https://www.africannativeburialsct.org) and the supervisor of the “Forgotten Voices” website for CRISRadio, which has received a National Park Service Battlefield Interpretation Grant. She oversaw and conducted research for the project on the Redding Encampment.  She is also the new publisher of Connecticut Explored starting July 5.

Part I will be the usual CTDA update and will be pre-recorded and available prior to the meeting date.

Part II will be the live meeting, that will include breakout sessions (on topics to be determined in advance), breakout sessions developed “unconference” style from suggestions during the day, and our now familiar lightning talks featuring CTDA members sharing their stories of projects and ideas they are working on.
