At least one adult guardian must stay in the room for this program.

Siblings age 4 and under are welcome, but please include the number of siblings on the registration.

Registration required.

Location: 1st Floor Community Room

What will we do?
Dive into the world of Flamenco, a dynamic Spanish art form with Rebeca Tomas!

Explore its lively dance, music, + stories, feel the rhythm interactively, and have fun learning flamenco moves for all skill levels!

“A Palo Seco” is a phrase that refers to a bare-bones style of flamenco music, often consisting of singing or percussion alone. This stripped-down aesthetic has become a central theme in artistic director Rebeca Tomas’ choreography, characterizing her biggest departures from tradition, while also rooting her work in the emotional rawness that lies at the heart of the art of Flamenco.

More than 15 families will be allowed to register. Library staff will give out the free picture books to those who qualify on the day of the program.

What is a SEED program?

SEED = Scholars Educational Enrichment Directive

A grant funded series of educational programs for children. The goal of these programs is to provide hand on enrichment opportunities for age groups K-4 in Avon, CT by incorporating cultural holidays, diverse calendar celebrations, multicultural events, art, literature, and STEM activities led by Erin Dawson and Erin Barthel, two Avon residents, educators, and mothers, in partnership with the Avon Library.

This is a series of programs made possible by a generous grant from Avon Greater Together Community Fund and the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
