A two hour online workshop with Kelly Kandra Hughes, PhD

You’ve been waiting for the perfect time to start decluttering or downsizing. And now that we’re all practicing social distancing and self-isolation, you’ve got organization on the brain. You’re finally ready to get started. Ironically, this is when we get into trouble because we become our own worst decluttering enemy. We get excited about what we’re going to do and how we’re going to do it, only to start too big, too fast, and with too high expectations for getting rid of the stuff in our cluttered cupboards, cabinets, and closets. No wonder we fail or lose interest! But, what if there’s a better way?

In this 2-hour online workshop, Dr. Hughes will give participants the tools they need to successfully complete a decluttering or downsizing project of their choosing. Every participant will come away with a step-by-step plan suited for their own project based on psychological research and minimalism principles.

This workshop will take place through Zoom. Zoom is an online video conferencing platform available on desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. It’s easy to download the app and easy to use. Pre-registration is required. A Zoom link will be sent out when you register.

Presenter’s Bio: Dr. Kelly Kandra Hughes earned her PhD in psychology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. After earning tenure and promotion to associate professor at a suburban Chicago university, Dr. Hughes took a sabbatical, had a near death experience, and woke to the wonder of the world around her. She quit her job the following year, married the love of her life, and gave away, donated, sold, recycled, or trashed over 95% of her belongings. She has never been healthier or happier. Her writings and work on minimalism have been featured in newspapers and websites such as Norfolk Now, Lakeville Journal, Republican American, Rural Intelligence, No Sidebar, Dropbox, Tracking Happiness, UpJourney, and The University of Surrey Centre for Environment and Sustainability.
