Introduction to Islam (virtual course)

Islam is a belief system held by over one billion people.. Yet, little is taught about its core beliefs, texts, and rituals. This course seeks to fill this need by introducing Non-Muslims to Islam and Muslim communities. It is designed to engage students on Islam in our present context. What does it mean to be Muslim in America? Where are Muslims communities? To answer such questions, this three week module will cover the topic Islam in America. Attention will be given to American Muslim communities, cultural variance, the Muslim experience, and general stereotypes and issues faced by Muslims.
Course will run for three weeks.
To develop an understanding about Muslim communities and the Muslim experience
To introduce terminology and concepts important to Islam and Muslims
