Monday January 3 - Saturday January 29

January Art Exhibit:  One with Nature by Beckie Sahl

Our January exhibit is entitled One with Nature, and it features the paintings of Beckie Sahl.
Beckie and her husband Robert and their three young children moved from Pittsburgh to Avon in 1999. The children, Cassie, Jessa and Sam flourished in the Avon Public School system. The family loved exploring the many hiking trails, waterways, and bike paths in the Farmington Valley. Many of the paintings in this exhibit were painted near the banks of the Farmington River and its tributaries, Nodbrook, Thompson Brook and Salmon Brook.  Beckie serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Farmington River Watershed Association whose mission is to protect the Farmington River Watershed.
Beckie is a Psychiatric Nurse and has used expressive arts in her work. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Nursing School and has her Masters in Child Adolescent Psychiatric Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh. She and her Golden Retriever, Sunny-Side-Up, are a Registered Pet Therapy Team and lead therapy groups with children at Hartford Hospital’s Grace Webb School in Avon. They are also part of an emergency response team that serves Connecticut. Beckie teaches Hebrew School at the Emanuel Synagogue where she incorporates art into her teaching.
Beckie started to paint in 2013 taking classes at Northwestern Connecticut Community College where she received a Certificate of Fine Arts. She continues to take classes at the West Hartford Arts League. The paintings in this exhibit are in oil except one pastel of Florence, (the gray and silver cat).
