Take & Eat bag: Dagashi (aka Japanese snacks!)
Friday, August 6
The closing ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics is Sunday August 8th.
To celebrate we have a limited number of Take & Eat Japanese dagashi, aka snack bags.
What is Dagashi???
Dagashi (Japanese: 駄菓子) refers to cheap candies and snack foods. Dagashi can be compared to American penny candy. The word dagashi is derived from the Japanese words da (“futile” or “negligible”) and kashi (snacks). Most dagashi are packaged in bright, childish wrapping.
Who can sign up? Kids and teens entering Grades 6-12.
So what is in the bag? Each bag contains 6 pieces of salty, sweet, or savory Japanese snacks. Each bag is unique.
*Signing up for a mystery bag of snacks is not recommended for those with gluten, soy, or other food allergies.*
The pickup day for this Take & Eat bag is Friday August 6th.
The library will be open 10am-5pm on Fri. August 6th. If you don’t show up on Fri. August 6th, any unclaimed bags will be given out first come first served on Sat. August 7th, until gone. One bag per teen.
Please arrive no later than 4:45pm on Friday to ensure you can enter and exit the library with enough time before closing.
Where to go to pick up your bag?
Bags will be located behind the 2nd Floor Children’s Desk. Check in with a Children’s Librarian, then pick your mystery bag of Dagashi. Limited supply of bags available.
*All children, patrons, and staff must wear a mask at all times on the 2nd Floor of the Avon Library.*
