Judy judy Judy movie Series: Judy
Tuesday, March 3 at 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
The Avon Free Public Library presents Judy, Judy, Judy, a three-part Judy Garland movie series.
Judy Garland was one of the brightest, most tragic movie stars of Hollywood’s Golden Era. During a career that spanned 45 years, she attained international stardom as an actress in both musical and dramatic roles, as a recording artist, and on the concert stage.
The series begins on Tuesday, March 3 at 1:30 pm with the new award-winning biopic Judy starring Renée Zellweger. The film examines Garland through the prism of a late-in-life UK engagement peppered with flashbacks to key moments in her early years as a child star. (2019 ; 2 hrs., PG-13)
Second in the series is Meet Me in St. Louis on Tuesday, March 17 at 1:30 pm. The Oscar-nominated MGM romantic musical, released in 1944, is one of Garland’s most popular films. She stars as a St. Louis teen whose world is turned upside down when she learns her family might move to New York. (1944, 1 hr. and 53 min, Not Rated)
The series concludes with A Star is Born on Tuesday, March 31 at 1:30 pm. The film, a remake of the 1937 picture of the same name, stars Garland as Esther Blodgett. Garland was nominated for a best actress Oscar, and Esther become one of her most iconic roles, though it would also be her last major movie role. (1954 ; 2 hrs. and 34 min. ; Rated PG)
