(Virtual Event) Meditation and the Brain

Ever wonder what meditation is all about and how meditation works? Please join, Dr. Manish Saggar, an Asst. Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Stanford University School of Medicine and a long time meditator, who speaks nationally on this topic. Dr. Saggar will explore psychological, as well as traditional views, on how meditation benefits us on numerous levels. He will also share certain studies that show how meditation enhances brain functioning. In addition, there will be a short meditation session.


Presenter: Dr. Manish Saggar is an assistant professor in the department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. His lab is dedicated to developing computational methods that could allow for anchoring psychiatric diagnosis into biological features. He received his doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin and completed his postdoctoral training at Stanford. As part of his doctoral work, he developed computational methods to understand how brain activity changes with intensive meditation training.
