IN PERSON EVENT: Poetry Reading: “The Glass Globe” Presented by Connecticut Poet Laureate Margaret Gibson

Margaret Gibson, Connecticut’s State Poet Laureate, will be reading poems from her most recent published collection, The Glass Globe, the third in a trilogy which takes as its focus the poet’s journey through Alzheimer’s with her late husband . This final book in the trilogy interweaves poems of personal grief with poems whose focus is environmental grief and climate emergency.
MARGARET GIBSON, Poet Laureate of Connecticut, has published 13 books of poems, most recently The Glass Globe, the third book in a trilogy that includes Broken Cup and Not Hearing the Wood Thrush. AWARDS: The Lamont Selection, Melville Kane Award, Connecticut Book Award. She was a Finalist for the National Book Award, 1993, and for the Poets’ Prize, 2016. With a grant from the Academy of American Poets, she edited an anthology, Waking Up to the Earth: Connecticut Poets in a Time of Global Climate Crisis.
