Russia and Ukraine: the Roots of Conflict

We are all too familiar with the recent causes and consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but how much of the story do we really know?  Travel back to 988 and look at important episodes going forward to understand the long-term causes of this often-fraught relationship.

This lecture will be presented by Stephen McGrath. He taught American history and European revolutions at Central Connecticut State University from 2000-2020. Before that, he was social Studies Supervisor in the West Hartford Schools. He holds an M.A. in history from Trinity College. He has written articles on Connecticut history for the Connecticut History Review and has presented papers at meetings of The Association for the Study of Connecticut and the Historical Society of the Episcopal Church. His book on the history of the First Congregational Church of Woodbury, co-authored with Sara K. Griswold, received an award from the Connecticut Local History Organization.

Please register and a Zoom link will be sent out before the event.
