The United Nations: Now More than Ever! (Virtual Event)

Wednesday, November 17 at 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

We live in a conflicted world … be it the humanitarian  challenges in Afghanistan, Yemen and the Middle East,  the armed conflicts in the Sahel belt of Africa, the human rights of women and children to survive and flourish  or  the tensions between the US and China …. and a threatening climate disaster enveloping our planet.
Is the United Nations still relevant? Can the United Nations offer collaborative solutions and implement them for the good of the 193 member nations?

Fortunately, Arthur and Susan Holcombe, whose careers span over 40 years  with the United Nations, Oxfam America and other NGOs will explore these and related issues.  They have worked and lived in East Africa, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the South Pacific, Sudan and China. Special projects engaged them in Tibet, Gaza, the Andes, Cambodia and elsewhere.  They will be pleased with your questions!

Their recently published book, The Roads Taken: Serendipity, Purpose and Our Pursuit of Human Development is available from Amazon
Please register and a Zoom link will be sent out before the event.
