Russia’s Invasion and Ukraine’s Resistance: An Update (virtual program with the Connecticut UNA)
Monday April 25 at 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Join us for an update on the Ukraine, featuring one of our panelists from our March 2022 program with the Connecticut UNA.
The situation in Ukraine is in flux. Military battles rage. Millions of families are displaced, over four millions refugees have left the country, cities have been devastated, territorial controlled areas continue to change. Representatives of the United Nations Human Rights Commission, United Nations High Commission on Refugees and World Food Program are presently in Ukraine.
Fortunately, our guest speaker, Alex Kzuma, is someone who may help us appreciate the on the ground situation. He is a Yale graduate, attorney and someone engaged in Ukrainian civic/educational and humanitarian efforts in Ukraine for over 30 years. Q & A will follow this presentation.
Alexander Kuzma is the Chief Development Officer for the Ukrainian Catholic Education Foundation (UCEF). A lawyer by training, for 15 years, he served as Development Director for the Children of Chernobyl Relief Fund, an organization that provided millions of dollars in medical equipment, hospital supplies and training for hospitals in Ukraine. Since 2010 he has worked to raise funds for students scholarships, endowments and new programs at the Ukrainian Catholic University. UCU is the only Catholic university in the former Soviet Union. Beyond his professional career, Alex is a choral director and cantor at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hartford, Connecticut. When he is not on the road with UCEF he serves as the music director of the Yevshan Ukrainian Vocal Ensemble based in Connecticut.
