Fashion and the First Lady (Virtual Event)

Wednesday, February 19 at 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

During the course of history, the First Ladies of America have been watched, admired, copied, sometimes criticized, and followed for their fashion and style.  Join us for a look at the clothing and accessories worn by our presidents’ wives, as we journey through time from our earliest first lady to our immediate past president’s wife, Jill Biden.  We will examine the ladies who changed the course of fashion as well as those who had little or no effect whatsoever.

Presenter: Karen (Ren) Antonowicz received her Master’s Degree in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising, and Design, with a concentration in Historic Costume & Textiles from the University of RI.  She then taught History of Fashion and other courses full time at the college level for 13 years, and taught part time in the CE Program at the RI School of Design.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Avon Free Public Library.

Please register; Zoom links will be sent out before the event.
