Thursday, July 9, 2020, 7pm. Lincoln, 2012, Directed by Steven Spielberg starring Daniel Day-Lewis

This film is loosely based on Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book Team of Rivals. It focuses on the last 4 months of Lincoln’s Presidency when he furiously worked to pass the Thirteenth Amendment, abolishing slavery. Featuring an incredible cast telling a compelling story, this is one not to be missed. Running time: 2:30. Available on Hoopla, Amazon Prime and curbside pick-up at the library.

Thursday, July 16, 2020, 7pm. Thirteen Days, 2000, Directed by Roger Donaldson starring Kevin Costner.

This thriller focuses on the Cuban Missile Crisis during the Kennedy Presidency in 1962. Thirteen Days captures the nerve-racking period when Kennedy negotiated to get nuclear missiles out of Cuba. Those who remember that era will relive the fear that Americans felt at that time. Running time: 2:25.  Available on Amazon Prime and curbside pick-up at the library,

Thursday, July 23, 2020, 7pm. Frost/ Nixon, 2008, Directed by Ron Howard starring Frank Langella and Kevin Bacon.

This film recreates the interviews by talk show host David Frost and Richard Nixon and was conducted after Nixon resigned due to the Watergate scandal. Nixon, who never admitted guilt or apologized, felt he could control the interviews as Frost was mostly known for his interviews with entertainers, not politicians. Timelier than ever considering today’s political landscape. Running time: 2:00. Available on Amazon Prime and curbside pick-up at the library.
