Are you a fan of comics and graphic novels? Do you want to be part of a book club but just can’t find time to read a long novel? Are you looking for a quiet, chill introvert friendly space to share what you’re a fan of?
This month we will be reading & discussing Monstress Volume 1 Awakening (Issues 1 – 6) by Marjorie Liu.
“Set in an alternate matriarchal 1900’s Asia, in a richly imagined world of art deco-inflected steam punk, MONSTRESS tells the story of a teenage girl who is struggling to survive the trauma of war, and who shares a mysterious psychic link with a monster of tremendous power, a connection that will transform them both and make them the target of both human and other worldly powers.”
*Please note, this graphic novel is published for adults and contains mature content. From the publisher: “M is for MATURE (ages 18+)…the story was created with an adult audience in mind.”*
Copies of the book will be available to check out ahead of time at the Reference Desk. The title is also available with your Avon library card through Hoopla.
There will be coloring and light refreshments available. Past participation is not required for this once-a-month book club. Everyone is welcome to join the low-key, no long-term commitment, friendly group.
Registration is required.
