Has the Avon Library touched your life or the life of someone close to you? A gift to the library is a gift to the community that will touch the lives of many in return. Memorial donations are a lasting and public way to honor the memory of friends or family. Planned giving is a way to fulfill your philanthropic objectives while maximizing your tax benefits through careful estate planning.
The library is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit corporation. It is governed by a Board of Directors and administered by a professional library staff. The Town of Avon’s annual operating budget funds essential services. All privately derived funds are earmarked for special programs, collections and the future growth of the library. The Board of Directors manages this funding. A printable donation form is available and online donations via credit card are available via PayPal by clicking the DONATE button below!
Ways to Give
Gifts of Cash: If you itemize on your tax return, cash gifts can be deducted from your adjusted gross income. Checks may be mailed to the library (281 Country Club Road, Avon CT 06001) or donate online via credit card or PayPal account by clicking the button below.
Wills and Bequests: You can leave a specified amount or a percentage of your estate to the library, or you may elect to make a residual bequest, leaving the remainder of your estate after you have provided for your loved ones. Your intentions must be clearly stated in your will.
Gifts of Life Insurance: You can name the library as beneficiary of a paid-up life insurance policy or a new policy.
Other possibilities include gifts of real estate, publicly-listed securities, charitable remainder trusts and more.
Matching Gifts: Many employers will match their employee’s or retiree’s charitable contributions either directly or through an affiliation with an online matching gift program such as EASYMATCH or CyberGrants. Check with your employer for details in order to maximize your donation.
Consult with your financial advisor to ensure that your planned gift is designed to give you the maximum tax and legal advantages allowed by law.
Memorial Donations
To honor a friend, family member or colleague; to commemorate a special occasion: to pay tribute to the memory of a significant someone; or to express appreciation and support for the Avon Library donate $25.00 or more ($15.00 for a children’s item) and a new acquisition will be added to the Avon Library’s collection.
You may designate the medium (a book, magazine subscription, compact disc, etc.), title or subject to reflect a personal interest or the interest of the individual in whose name the donation is made.
Each new item will receive a commemorative plate identifying the donor and/or the person being honored. The Library will notify the appropriate individual about your gift. The amount of all contributions will remain confidential.
Your gift will be a lasting expression of your special sentiment and will enrich the Avon Library’s collection!
