Friends of the Avon Library

The Friends of Avon Library’s Mission is to support the Avon Free Public Library with both funds and volunteers. We promote the extension of library facilities by securing materials beyond the ordinary library budget. We also enrich the library experience by sponsoring library programs and activities through financial support.

What do the Friends Support at The Avon Free Public Library?
Avon Library needs not otherwise funded by the Library budget.
Adult Book Programs:
- The Annual Author Luncheon
- Sundays at Three Free Winter concerts
- The annual Local Author Festival
- A wide variety of book/author programs
- Special Library programs on local history and paleontology plus
- Book clubs
- Learning the art of writing
- Craft and Art opportunities
Kids & Teens Programs:
- AvonCon modeled after the grand comic conventions of New York City & San Diego, AvonCon is an all day, community-wide event
- Book Buddies reading program with older students
- Wonderful Wednesdays (summer) series of programs
- Annual Ice Cream Social
- Specialized Teen Programs
- Art Adventure
- Chess sessions

Volunteer Opportunities:
If you would like to volunteer, we have many opportunities. It’s a great way to make new friends through these collaborative Friends activities.
- Friends’ Annual Book Sales
- BOOK-TIQUE sales of donated books, featured seasonally at a special location between the Circulation Desk and the Reference Desk
- Book Sorters who meet weekly to sort books for the annual Book Sales events
- Special events volunteers
- Baking for Friends Events
- Concert Ushers
- Special Projects Volunteers
- Friends Board positions and Committee Chairs when available.
How to Become a Member of the Friends
Click on the button below to fill out a Friends Membership Form to give us your contact information, desired Membership level and areas of volunteer interest (see above).
The Button also provides instructions on how to submit Membership donations by check (mail printed form with check to Avon Library Friends c/o Avon Free Public Library 281 Country Club Road Avon CT 06001) or pay by credit card online. If paying by credit or debit card please consider adding $2 to cover processing fees.
