Alden will be joining us again to answer our most asked questions after hearing about the toxic and largely unregulated chemicals found on our clothing today, “So, what should I buy for a cleaner closet and home?”

Alden will share expert tips on how to choose and take care of healthy clothing, shoes, and accessories including:

  • What companies you can trust
  • What labels to look for
  • What materials and colors to look for
  • How to best wash and care for your clothing

About TO DYE FOR, Alden Wicker’s book:

Utterly eye-opening and engrossing, you will never look at your clothes the same way again after reading this book. Alden Wicker demystifies the toxic process behind how our clothing is made in page-turning detail.” –Amy Odell, author of Anna: The Biography

Silent Spring for your wardrobe, TO DYE FOR is a jolting exposé that reveals the true cost of the toxic, largely unregulated chemicals found on most clothing today. In TO DYE FORWicker reveals how clothing manufacturers have successfully swept consumers’ concerns under the rug for more than 150 years, and why synthetic fashion and dyes made from fossil fuels are so deeply intertwined with the rise of autoimmune disease, infertility, asthma, eczema, and more.

For the book, Wicker traveled all over the U.S. and to India, gathering first-person accounts from those suffering from modern diseases like Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS), also known as Toxicant Induce Loss of Tolerance. This condition is triggered when the body reacts to chemical exposure by shutting down, causing brain fog, extreme fatigue, breathing problems, hives, rashes and more.  Today it’s estimated that twenty percent of the population is chemically sensitive, and Wicker shares the biological mechanism, discovered in the past few years, for the first time in TO DYE FOR. In the process she explains how we got here and what the stakes are, offering guidance on what each one of us can do to fight for a safe and healthy wardrobe—and world—for all.
