October 16, White Tiger, 2021, India, Directed by Ramon Bahrani.  Based on a Booker Prize winning novel, this film explores the social  divide between the haves and have nots as we follow the son of a  rickshaw driver who uses his wits to rise above his social class.  Available for rent on Amazon. October 23, Burning, 2018, Japan/South Korea, Directed by Lee  Chang-dong. This Academy Award nominated film follows Jong-su  who bumps into a girl he knew from childhood. She asks him to look  after her cat while she’s away. When she returns she introduces him  to a man who Jong-su feels poses a threat to his old friend. October 30, Minari, 2020. South Korea, Directed by Lee Isaac Chung.  Chung tells his personal story as a Korean American who moves to  the Ozarks of Arkansas. November 6, The Life of Pi, 2012, India, Directed by Ang Lee. Pi is the  story of a young man who survives a disaster at sea and finds himself  stranded in a lifeboat for 227 days with a Bengal Tiger. Bob Kagan was Chair of the Communication Department at Manchester Community College for 30 years. In his “unretirement” he teaches Communication courses at Central Connecticut State University and the University of Hartford. He has been leading film discussions at the Avon Free Public Library for the past 7 years.
