Uninvited: The Spread of Invasive Species tells the story of invasive species in New York State and how the Department of Environmental Conservation and their partners are tackling them.

A post-film discussion will be led by Jody Morgan, from the Garden Club of Avon, and Dr. Susan Masino, the Vernon D. Roosa Professor of Applied Science at Trinity College.

A life-long gardener, Jody Morgan helped plant and maintain historic gardens in Duxbury and Norwell, MA before moving to the Philadelphia area where she completed Longwood Gardens certificate programs Ornamental Horticulture and Floral Design. On to Danville, California, serving as a docent at the Ruth Bancroft Garden, the Garden Conservancy’s first garden. She writes monthly articles for a California newspaper on horticulture history and environmental issues and contributes to the Connecticut Horticultural Society Newsletter. Past president of the Garden Club of Avon, she coordinates club projects at Sycamore Hills growing a pollinator patch and vegetables for Gifts of Love.

Susan A. Masino is the Vernon D. Roosa Professor of Applied Science at Trinity College and a member of the Science and Technology Working Group of the Governor’s Council on Climate Change (GC3). She is on the Open Space Commission in Simsbury, the Hartford County Coordinator for the Old Growth Forest Network, and recently a Charles Bullard Fellow in Forest Research at Harvard Forest/Harvard Medical School. Her laboratory-based research focuses on mechanisms of brain health and disease, and her scholarship outside the lab focuses on natural strategies to mitigate climate change, support community health, and protect all species.
