“Backyard Wildlife: All About Opossums” presentation by Pam and Bill Lefferts, from Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue, Woodstock, CT.

Meet your new wildlife best friend! Adults and kids can learn what makes opossums awesome. Opossums are amazing little creatures and offer huge benefits to humans. Meet Mango and Bella, gentle opossum ambassadors, who will be there to greet and take photos. (they will win your heart!).

Books will be for sale.

About Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue:

In early 2017, the Lefferts opened Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue. They believe it is the perfect volunteer opportunity for retirees and love to share their passion and knowledge of how and what
“rehabbing” entails. Specializing in opossum, the Lefferts especially enjoy sharing knowledge about these misunderstood gentle creatures.  Pam is a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator in CT. Pam does the critical medical care of the animals, preparing them for release. Bill is a licensed CT Rehabilitator and Transporter. Bill maintains the rescue grounds and facilities, helps with socialization and
is instrumental in releases.

Ambassador animals used for educational programs help bring an awareness and understanding of opossums and other wildlife through hands-on interactive moments.

Bella and Mango are non-releasable opossums, who join the Lefferts as “spokespossums” for Ferncroft.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Avon Free Public Library.
