Summary of HAVENFALL by Sara Holland

A safe haven between four realms. The girl sworn to protect it–at any cost. Hidden deep in the mountains lies the Inn at Havenfall, a sanctuary that connects ancient worlds–each with their own magic–together. For generations, the inn has  protected all who seek refuge within its walls, and any who disrupt the peace can never return.
For Maddie summers are for magic. Havenfall is an escape from reality, where her mother sits on death row accused of murder. One day she hopes to inherit the role of Innkeeper.
But this summer, the impossible happens–a dead body is found, shattering everything the inn stands for. Everything goes wrong, Maddie suddenly finds herself responsible for the safety of everyone in Havenfall. She’ll do anything to uncover the truth. As dark secrets are revealed about the inn itself, one thing becomes clear to Maddie: no one can be trusted, and no one is safe…

THE GOOD LUCK GIRLS:

Aster, the protector
Violet, the favorite
Tansy, the medic
Mallow, the fighter
Clementine, the catalyst

The country of Arketta calls them Good Luck Girls–they know their luck is anything but. Sold to a “welcome house” as children and branded with cursed markings. Trapped in a life they would never have chosen.

When Clementine accidentally murders a man, the girls risk a dangerous escape and harrowing journey to find freedom,      justice, and revenge in a country that wants them to have none of those things. Pursued by Arketta’s most vicious and powerful forces, human &  inhuman, their only hope lies in a bedtime story passed from one Good Luck Girl to another…..
