Join us this April as we celebration National Library Week, with the theme of “Find Your Joy”

All events are free to attend, except the Friends Author Luncheon.

April is Passport to CT Libraries month! Stop by the Circulation Desk, pick up a passport, and begin the quest to visit as many CT libraries as you can this month.  Participate April 1-30 for a chance to win a $200 Visa gift card.  Participation is free, ask at the Circulation Desk for more details.  Passport to CT Libraries is sponsored by the Connecticut Library Association.

4/22/26: 2:00 pm, A Defiant Woman/Author Event with Karen Olson (in-person), Kate Tudor’s marriage to billionaire Hank Tudor continues to fray when his ex-wife resurfaces in the wake of their daughter’s kidnapping, in the latest novel in this genre-defying crime series.  Register here

4/22/26: 7:00 pm Virtual film discussion of Cinema Paradiso (virtual). Join our People’s Choice Film Series: Films Selected by the Avon Public Library Film Buffs. Register here

4/23/26: 7:00 pm: Strings of Hope: HSO Concert. Music and a dance with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and the Natyakshetram Bharathanatyam Dance School. No registration required. 

4/23/26: 11:30 am: 14th annual Friends Author Luncheon featuring Amity Gaige. (in-person) This ticketed, off-site event incudes lunch, a talk by author Amity Gaige, and a chance to buy her books. Tickets available here

4/25/26: 2:00 pm: “Remember Liss: A New American Founding Figure” (in-person) Meet Liss, an enslaved Black woman seeking liberty in a country fighting for its own. Part of Avon’s America 250th programming. Register here

4/27/26: 2:00 pm: “The Pride & Prejudice of Fashion: Clothing Styles of the Jane Austen Era” (in-person) Wander through the wardrobes of some of Miss Austen’s most famous characters. Register here

4/28/26: 6:30 pm: Author Visit with Peter Abrahams (aka Spencer Quinn) (in-person) Peter Abrahams (aka Spencer Quinn) returns to Avon to celebrate the release of his newest book, Cat on a Hot Tin Woof. Register here
