November Art Exhibit: Natural Expressions Photography – What a Wonderful World

On display in our Gallery for the month of November is an exhibit by Christopher Fisher of Natural Expressions Photography entitled What a Wonderful World.  This outstandingly unique and colorful exhibit features Chris’s photography, printed in such a way that you will swear that they are paintings.  Printed on matte paper instead of gloss and framed without glass, the images are printed in a lower contrast that increases shadow detail and reduces highlights, producing an almost painterly effect.  With almost 90 beautiful works on display in our Gallery, this is an exhibit that you will not want to miss!

     

Christopher Fisher has been photographing the world around him for more than 50 years.  He and his wife Diane have traveled extensively in the United States and Canada, as well as countries in Europe, Central America, South America and Africa.  Chris spent 30 years teaching high school physics in Bloomfield, and during that time also spent 15 years doing wedding photography.  For more than 40 years he was an active member of the Simsbury Camera Club serving as editor of the newsletter, membership chair, judge and commentator.

ARTIST STATEMENT:  The physical world of which we are a part is a fascinating, detailed and ever changing place.  The palette of colors provided to the photographer by nature seems almost limitless.  Whether looking at birds, flowers up close, running water or grand panoramas of sculpted rock layers, or even the interesting architectural lines of a cathedral, lighthouse or an abandoned warehouse, the world is filled with beauty.  It is my hope that as you view these photographs, you will be drawn into that little piece of the world and wonder about it.  Maybe it will even nudge you to go explore it further on your own.  However it affects you, I hope it helps you realize that outside of our day-to-day problems, there lies a “Wonderful World” which we need to appreciate and protect so that it can continue to nourish the souls of future generations.
