The League of Lady Poisoners: Virtual Author Event with Lisa Perrin
Monday, October 2 at 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for a virtual event with Lisa Perrin, to celebrate the release of THE LEAGUE OF LADY POISONERS: Illustrated True Stories of Dangerous Women.
THE LEAGUE OF LADY POISONERS: Illustrated True Stories of Dangerous Women by Baltimore-based author/illustrator Lisa Perrin. This riveting and well-researched volume weaves together the true stories of more than two dozen accused women poisoners from throughout history and from around the world, exploring the circumstances and skill sets that led them to lives of crime.
Readers may find themselves rooting for some of them—like Sally Bassett, who helped poison her granddaughter’s enslavers in Bermuda, or Giulia Tofana, who sold her name-brand concoction to women wanting to be rid of their abusive husbands. Other stories, though—including that of Yiya Murano, one of Argentina’s most notorious swindlers and serial killers, or the terrifying Nurse Jane Toppan—may prove less palatable. Organized into thematic chapters based on the women’s motives—Professional Poisoners, Escape and Defiance, Money and Greed, Power and Politics, Anger and Revenge, and Love and Obsession—this sumptuously illustrated book is a feast for the senses and a delectable treat for true crime fans and feminist history buffs.
Please register; Zoom links will be sent out before the event.
