Teen Volunteer Opportunities

Below you can find the current Teen Volunteer needs and which staff member to contact. If you have a project/idea that may benefit the library, for general information, email Marisa Hicking, Children’s and Teen Department Manager, mhicking@avonctlibrary.info

Winter 2025 Opportunities:

  • Picture Book Shelving (Grades 7 – 12)

FULL. Picture Book Shelving will open again after winter break.

  • Teen Advisory Meetings (TAB, Grades 9 – 12) or Student Leader Advisory Board (SLAB, Grades 7 + 8) during the school year:

Open to teens in Grades 9-12 who want to get volunteer credit and give their voice to help shape the Teen Room of the Avon Free Public Library. We will discuss and plan future teen programs and vote on books to add to the Teen Room collection, & more! SLAB meets on Wednesdays once a month and TAB meets on Thursdays once a month. Next meeting dates TBD. 

  • Chess Club (Grades 9 -12)

Join Ms. Cara in helping kids in grades 2 – 6 learn and play chess. Meets once a month on Mondays.

  • Fall or Spring Book Buddies (Grades 7 – 12)

Spring Book Buddies OPEN 

Big Buddies are teen volunteers in Grades 7-12. You will get paired with your own Little Buddy in Grades K-3. You and your little buddy will meet, read together and do a craft! Meets weekly on Thursdays in the fall and spring.
