Environmental History: From Theodore Roosevelt to Modern Environmental Law with Professor Joseph MacDougald (in-person, offsite)

Thursday, January 29 at 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us as we host Joseph MacDougal, Professor-in-Residence and Executive Director, Center for Energy and Environmental Law at UCONN Law to discuss the environmental work of President Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt’s efforts created the guiderails to government stewardship of natural resources and provided the groundwork for modern environmental laws at the state and federal levels. This legal history lecture will focus on Roosevelt’s efforts and draw connections to, and perhaps recommendations for, current environmental law.

This event is a part of collaborative project titled To Form a More Perfect Union and is hosted in partnership with Canton, Avon, Simsbury, Farmington, and UConn Law libraries.

Future lectures will be held in early 2026.

This event will be held at the Simsbury Library. Register directly with the Simsbury Library by clicking here
