Location: Avon Library, 2nd Floor – Art Studio
Guardians and siblings are welcome to enjoy the children’s library floor & play area.
Children are responsible for obtaining their own copy of the book. If you need help getting a copy, please call 860 673 9712 ext 3 during regular library hours.

Kids ages 7-9 will read and discuss We’re All Gonna Die-nosaur! by Kon Tan
Kids ages 9-12 will read and discuss Frizzy by Claribel A. Ortega
Teens ages 12-18 Teen Homeschool Hangout: A social hour for Homeschool teens during book club discussions.
If your child is age 9 or 12 they can decide which of the two programs they would like to join that month.
The two separate book discussion groups will meet in adjoining rooms.

Marlene loves three things: books, her cool Tía Ruby and hanging out with her best friend Camila. But according to her mother, the only thing she needs to focus on is school and “growing up.” That means straightening her hair every weekend so she could have “presentable”, “good hair”.
But Marlene hates being in the salon and doesn’t understand why her curls are not considered pretty by those around her. With a few hiccups, a dash of embarrassment, and the much-needed help of Camila and Tia Ruby—she slowly starts a journey to learn to appreciate and proudly wear her curly hair.
