Help guide a sprawling adventure in the visually revamped kingdom of Hyrule! Ride horses, fish, explore Castle Town, and delve into dangerous dungeons to recover relics to save the kingdom and Princess Zelda! Kids read parts of the story and vote on what our Hero should do next while learning about story elements like heroes, themes, and plot. This program is designed to boost children’s reading fluency and comprehension skills, teach how stories are built, & help children practice teamwork and decision-making.

Unlike past Game Explorers games we will be playing Ocarina of Time until we are able to beat it. This 5 week session is only part 1 of many parts and future 5 week registrations will open up.

More about The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake

Releasing on 11/5/2026, this game is a remake of the 1998 classic of the same name! A Darkness looms over the Kingdom of Hyrule. A young boy, tucked away in the Kokiri Forest, has a nightmare of a Princess fleeing on horseback from a man clad in black armor. Tasked by The Great Deku Tree and his fairy companion, Navi, the young boy must set out in search of this Princess and warn her of the impending doom. Along the way, he will battle through fiery volcanoes, ocean palaces, & desert ruins. Will he make it to the Princess in Time? Who is this man clad in black armor? What is the Ocarina of Time? Register to find out!

This is a “repeat” of a previous Game Explorers game! This time we will be exploring the newly released remake to this 90s classic. Often cited as one of the greatest games of all time, Ocarina of Time is dearly beloved by myself and others. This game is very different from our typical fare and we will spend a lot of time working on problem solving techniques as we solve puzzles together in the first two dungeons of the game. Those that attended our summer session will already be familiar with this game and now they will have a chance to witness its remake directly after its launch!

More about Game Explorers:
Game Explorers is all about showcasing how video games can provide value to a child’s life by using them as tools to explore storytelling techniques and in turn bolstering their reading, writing, and listening skills.

Rather than have children staring blankly at a screen, Game Explorers has them engaging with the text, making decisive decisions as a team, answering questions, and following instructions. Children do not have direct control of the game, instead they work together as a team to help navigate the instructor. The gameplay is interrupted by discussion of the characters, setting, and themes of the story. This program is best for Children who can MOSTLY read independently. The group will work together to help sound out long or difficult words. Children should be made aware that they will NOT be actively holding the controller at all times.
