Practical Generative AI for Programmers is a hands-on course designed for mid-career technical professionals who want to confidently use AI in real-world programming tasks. The course demystifies how generative AI works, grounding participants in the technical foundations without unnecessary theory. Students learn modern, AI-powered development workflows using GitHub, Visual Studio Code, and GitHub Copilot. Through guided labs, participants use AI to generate and refine SQL queries for data and analytics use cases. The course introduces “vibe coding” to rapidly build Python programs using natural language prompts. Participants then apply the same approach to design and build a functional website with AI assistance. The program culminates in deploying and hosting a live web application. Emphasis is placed on validation, debugging, and responsible AI use.
