Nature’s Antidote: Screens, Kids, & the Path Forward

Tuesday, July 7 at 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

This is a free, 60-minute program led by Kristen Peterson, an educational consultant who has spent over 20 years working closely with teenagers in independent and boarding schools, and who has been asking one question for over a decade: how is screen use affecting children and teens, and what can we do about it?

Peterson offers an honest, research-grounded, and encouraging look at the physical, emotional, and social effects of technology on young people, exploring the impact of screens on adolescent sleep, brain development, musculoskeletal health, social skills, and mental health, and examining whether time spent outdoors and in nature can serve as a meaningful antidote.

You will leave with

  • Insights on how screens affect growth, sleep, and social skills

  • The science behind nature as a restorative antidote

  • Practical, family-friendly strategies you can use right away

  • Confidence to navigate this conversation with your teenager
