November 12, Writing With Fire, Directed by Sushmit Ghosh and Rintu Thomas, 2021. This inspiring documentary follows a group of Indian women from the Dalit caste of untouchables as they create the only female led news outlet in the country. November 19, Dark Waters, Directed by Todd Haynes, 2019. Based on a New York Times article, “The Lawyer Who Became DuPont’s Worst Nightmare”, this legal thriller features stellar performances by Mark Ruffalo, Ann Hathaway and Tim Robbins as they demand accountability for DuPont’s poisoning of a town with contaminated chemicals. December 3, The Dallas Buyer’s Club, Directed by Jean-Marc Vallee, 2013. Matthew McConaughey gives a riveting performance as Rob Woodroof, an electrician who fights the bureaucracy to gets AIDS patients the medication they need. December 10, Selma, Directed by Ava DuVernay, 2014. David Oyelowo portrays Dr. Martin Luther King as he organizes the historical march from Selma to Montgomery to fight for equal voting rights.
