Thursday, 8/10, 7pm: The Namesake, 2006, Directed by Mira Nair.  This beautifully drawn film depicts the immigrant experience of Ashoke and Ashima Ganguli as they adjust to their new life in New York and try to understand their increasingly Americanized children. Watch the trailer here

Thursday, 8/17, 7pm: The Great Gatsby, 2013, Directed by Baz Luhrmann.  This is the third remake of the F. Scott Fitzgerald movie and it is a visual feast featuring Leonardo DiCaprio in a remarkable performance as Jay Gatsby. Watch the trailer here

Bob Kagan was Chair of the Communication Department at Manchester Community College for 30 years. In his “unretirement” he teaches Communication courses at Central Connecticut State University and the University of Hartford. He has been leading film discussions at the Avon Free Public Library for the past 7 years.
