I was born in Vermont and named after the doctor who assisted my mother in giving birth to me.  

I worked my way up in the military to become brigadier general.  

I became president after the former president was assassinated.  

During my time in office, I passed The Pendleton Civil Service Act to prevent corruption in the government, and stopped Chinese immigration for ten years.  

I died from kidney disease shortly after my presidency ended.

I was born in Ohio to a very poor family and am believed to come from the poorest family out of all the presidents.  

Other careers that I had before I became president include Preaching, Teaching, and being a Lawyer. 

I was ambidextrous but was the first president to be considered left-handed.  

The only executive action that I completed in office was to create a day to honor the graves of those who died fighting in the civil war.  

I was only president for 200 days, before I was assassinated.

I was born in Ohio and raised by a single mother.  Before my presidency, I served in the Civil War.  

I won my election by just one vote and the votes from three southern states were recounted.  

I was the first president to take oath and during my presidency, the first telephone was installed in the white house.  

During my presidency, I helped to form the Compromise of 1877 to help end the Reconstruction Era.  
My most famous quote was, “He serves his party best who serves his country best.”

During my presidency, the Gold Market collapsed.  

I was known for being involved in many scandals.  

I died in 1885 and was buried next to my wife in Manhattan.

During my presidency, the Union won the Civil War.  I was assassinated at Ford’s Theatre when I was shot by John Wilkes Booth.

I was born in Pennsylvania and was the son of Irish immigrants.  

I went to Dickinson College and had an unusual problem with my eyes in which one was nearsighted and the other was farsighted.  

I am the only president who was unmarried during my presidency.  

Some of my nicknames include “Old Buck” and “Ten Cent Jimmie.” 

I have been rated as the least effective of all the presidents by historians.
